The Championship Game of the Big South Tournament is set after Liberty and Charleston Southern advance in the semifinals on Saturday.
The top seed in the south, Charleston Southern came back from a 5 point deficit against VMI before pulling out the 71-65 victory. The Buccaneers got a huge game from sophomore Arlon Harper who poured in 33 points and 9 rebounds in the game. The win lifts the Bucs to a 19-11 record entering Sunday's Championship game.
Charleston Southern will face a team who has defeated Coastal Carolina in front of their home crowd, top seed in the north High Point and now 2nd seed Gardner-Webb. That team is the Liberty Flames. The 5 seed has become hot at the right time and on Saturday, got 19 points from John Sanders to led them to the Championship game in a tight one against the Bulldogs. Liberty will enter the Championship game with a 14-20 record.
The Flames lost their only regular season meeting with Charleston Southern in a tight one at home 79-75 back on January 26.
