The top seeded Mercer Bears got 20 points from Bud Thomas, 18 from Langston Hall and 16 from Travis Smith and advanced past USC Upstate, 72-64. With the win, the Bears head to Saturday's Championship Game.
They will meet the second seed, Florida Gulf Coast, who took care of Stetson in the other semifinal on Friday, 72-58. The winner will get the automatic bid from the Atlantic Sun Conference in the NCAA Tournament. Four Eagles had double figure scoring led by Sherwood Brown who had 18 points and Bernard Thompson who had 12 points and 13 rebounds in the game.
The two teams split their 2 regular season games with Mercer winning in overtime at home on January 2 but falling on the road on February 28, 60-57.
