There will be an underdog dancing from the MAAC, once the dust settles. On Sunday, 4th seed Iona upset top seed Niagara, followed by 6 seed Manhattan advancing to the Championship defeating 7th seed, Fairfield. This on the heels over knocking out 3rd seed Loyola in the quarters.
Could Manhattan be the second team with a sub .500 record to go dancing in a couple weeks? After their win on Sunday, they sit at 14-17. To accomplish this, they must defeat Iona who has a record of 19-13. The Gaels are no stranger to the NCAA Tournament.
The two teams split their regular season games, with Manhattan most recently winning at home in overtime on February 15.
Iona is second in the Country in scoring, averaging 81.4 points per game while Manhattan is the 334th ranked scoring team in the nation, averaging 58.3 points per game. So as the old saying goes, "Something has to Give", in this one.
